DSAP - Negros Occidental Chapter and Philippine Society of General Surgeons (PSGS) led a Mass circumcision program on May 15,2010 from 9:00AM-4:30PM at Reodica Hall of Corazon Locsin-Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, establishing an entry in the Guinness’ Book of World Records.

DSAP - Negros Occidental Chapter and Philippine Society of General Surgeons (PSGS) led a Mass circumcision program on May 15,2010 from 9:00AM-4:30PM at Reodica Hall of Corazon Locsin-Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, establishing an entry in the Guinness’ Book of World Records.

The collaboration, along with 26 surgeons assisted by Nursing students of Colegio de San Agustin and University of Saint La Salle, aimed to achieve the most number of circumcision in one setting. Other medical affiliates like the Philippine College of Surgery and the Surgical Residents of the Regional Hospital participated in the undertaking as well. A total of 450 male patients were circumcised by the end of the event.

DSAP donated the take home medications, aided in the dispensing and gave post-operative instructions to the patients. New Market Link and J. Chemie Laboratories, Inc. provided medical supplies to be used in this event.
Bantay Bata Foundation and Care Philippines took charge in the recruitment process. ABS-CBN news covered the event for press release and archiving purposes. Final claims and publication to the Guinness’ Book of World Record is still pending after proper juridication by their Main office in Drumont, London in UK.

The DSAP 2010 HEALING THE NATION last April 24 and 25, 2010 was a success, an estimated number of more than ten thousand beneficiaries were able to receive services from the twenty three DSAP Chapters nationwide, namely:

NCR -  North, South, Central, East, and West
Northern Luzon – Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Cagayan Valley II, Ilocos Sur, and Pampanga
Soutern Luzon – Laguna, North Bicol, and Quezon
Visayas – Aklan, Antique, Iloilo, Samar, and Leyte
Mindanao – Cagayan de Oro, Davao, Dipolog, North Cotabato, and Socsargen

The DSAP 2010 HEALING THE NATION last April 24 and 25, 2010 was a success, an estimated number of more than ten thousand beneficiaries were able to receive services from the twenty three DSAP Chapters nationwide, namely:

All the efforts of the chapters that participated were greatly appreciated. The Social Services Committee would like to commend the chapters who offered the following services:

• Medical and Dental Services with free medication
• Free reading glasses
• Operation tule
• Blood letting
• Free massage
• Free haircut
• Free soup kitchen (feeding)
• Wellness clinic
• Give-away for kids
• Motorcade before the medical mission

As said by Linda Alaba of Cagayan de Oro Chapter, “Kindness is one gift anyone can give, with a feeling of fulfillment to be a blessing for others, especially the poor.”
